El Pato Mutter Paneer

Ingredients

  • Tomato (fresh or canned)
  • Onion
  • "El Pato" sauce found in any Mexican store. Make sure its the yellow can
  • Paneer 
  • Peas (mutter in hindi)
Preparation
Chop the tomatoes and onions.





Fry the onion in some olive oil until brown. Then add the tomatoes and continue to cook.





Add spices - haldi, salt and the el pato sauce. Add water depending on how soupy you want it.




Add peas and pieces of paneer. You can brown the paneer or fry it first as well if you prefer.






Serve with roti and other sides!

Paneer Pakori


Ingredients
  • Paneer (Indian Cheese)
  • Garbanzo flour (besan)
  • Cumin seeds (jira)
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder (haldi)
  • Chili powder 
  • Red onion
Preparation

Paneer packages available in all Indian stores.
 

Thinly slice Paneer and red onion.


In a bowl mix garbanzo flour (found at any Indian store), cumin seeds, chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and water. (See another variation)


Dip Paneer into the batter and/or Paneer and red onion mix. Make a ball and dip into the batter. You can basically batter any vegetable and make different flavor pakoris.

Deep or pan fry.



Enjoy as a snack or appetizer with chutney!

Paneer with Jalapeño & Tomato

Ingredients

  • Paneer
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Jalapeños
  • Haldi (tumeric powder)
  • Chili
  • Salt
Preparation

Thaw a block of paneer for a few minutes.



Use your hands to crumple into small pieces.


Cut tomatoes, onions and jalapeños (fajita style).



Sautee onions first. Then add the cut tomatoes.


Add salt, haldi, and chilly powder. Let it simmer until pureed.


Add jalapeño peppers.


Add the crumpled paneer pieces.


Let it simmer and crush paneer pieces evenly so it absorbs all the flavors.



Enjoy with naan or roti (Indian breads)!

Mutter Panner

Finely chop red onions and tomatoes. Prepare the curry by first cooking the onion with olive oil until brown. Then add the tomatoes and spices - haldi, salt, garam masala and chili.










Cut paneer into cube. You can fry the paneer too (separately) if you wish but you can reduce some oil by just adding in the paneer to the gravy. Add some frozen peas as well. Gently stir for few minutes until the peas are cooked.
